Privacy Policy

Last updated 30 July 2026

This policy explains what Delhi Book Store (trading as The Delhi Book Store) does with your personal data when you use this website. We have written it in plain language on purpose.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Delhi Book Store, trading as The Delhi Book Store, is the data fiduciary for the personal data described here. We are a digital-only publisher based in India and operate without a physical storefront. For any privacy question or request, write to delhibookstore69@gmail.com and a person will answer — that address is our only contact channel.

2. What we collect

DataWhenWhy we need it
Name, email address, mobile number At checkout To create your order, deliver your download, and support you if delivery fails
Order record: title, amount, payment reference, timestamp When you pay To fulfil your order, answer support queries, and meet tax and accounting obligations
Referral source and campaign tags (utm parameters, click identifiers) If you arrive from an advertisement or link To understand which advertising works
IP address, browser type, pages viewed Automatically Security, abuse prevention, and basic traffic statistics

3. What we never collect

We do not see or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN, netbanking password or any other payment credential. Those are entered directly on the payment gateway's systems. We receive only a payment reference and a success or failure result.

4. Why we are allowed to process it

  • To perform our contract with you — we cannot deliver a book you paid for without your email address.
  • Your consent — for non-essential analytics and advertising cookies, where you have accepted them.
  • Our legitimate interests — keeping the site secure, preventing fraud, and understanding which advertising works.
  • Legal obligation — retaining transaction records for tax and accounting.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the following categories of recipient:

  • Our payment gateway, to take your payment and confirm it to us.
  • Our hosting provider, which stores the site and its database on servers in India.
  • Meta Platforms, where you have accepted advertising cookies, so we can measure advertising performance. This is limited to event data about page views and purchases and is governed by Meta's own policies.
  • Professional advisers and authorities, where we are legally required to disclose.

6. Cookies and tracking

This site uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies:

  • Strictly necessary — a session cookie that keeps your checkout and your download page working, and a token that protects forms against cross-site request forgery. These cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
  • Local storage — we store the campaign tags you arrived with so we can attribute a sale to the right advertisement. This stays in your own browser.
  • Advertising and measurement — the Meta pixel, which records page views and purchases to measure advertising.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent checkout from working.

7. How long we keep it

  • Order records — eight years, to meet Indian tax and accounting retention requirements.
  • Download tokens — 48 hours, after which they stop working. Expired tokens are purged periodically.
  • Server logs — typically 30 days.

8. Your rights

Under Indian data protection law you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal data we hold about you;
  • correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
  • erase your data, where we are not required to keep it for tax or legal reasons;
  • stop sending you communications you did not ask for;
  • nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you are unable to.

Email delhibookstore69@gmail.com from the address you used with us. We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the relevant data protection authority.

9. Security

The site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Order records sit in a database that is not reachable from the public internet, and the ebook files themselves are stored outside the web root so they can only be served through a one-time, expiring link tied to a paid order. No system is perfectly secure, but we do not store anything we do not need.

10. Children

This site is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
